Hi guys, I've got a small green relay marked ZIG in the left side locker. It has four wires, 3 of which disappear under the van, and the last (black) one, which is fused, is just hanging. Anyone got any idea where it should be attached to? I asked ZIG and they didn't really know but said it could be a split charging relay, in which case it should probably go to the leisure battery live terminal, which makes sense. Can anyone confirm? BTW, did a full service this weekend, including a cambelt change and a rad reverse flush. Was quite surprised at how easy it was to change the cambelt, especially with the rad out.

Sounds about right, TBH, but variations between Bambis never fail to surprise me. Well done on the cambelt change!

I've done a bit of surfing this morning and it seems that this relay (RM12) is supposed to be connected to the Fridge to power it whilst the engine is running. The fridge in my Bambi has been replaced with some type of coolbox so I guess someone disconnected the supply - and just left a raw-ended cable dangling, which was powered when the engine was running! I'm surprised I didn't have some cool underfloor lightshow when I was driving along... I think I'll have to spend next Saturday investigating how they've wired up this coolbox thingy.

Well, there you go! Might be an idea to put a switch in series, to ensure that the fridge isn't drawing power when you don't need it.

Yep good idea Chris, I think I will do that.

Hi, I have a copy of the wiring for a zig relay, and could e-mail you the information if you e-mail me. Tim@bedfordrascal.com.
Usually the black wire is the earth and is connected to an earth point next to the battery, on the left as you look at it. the green is the ignition switch supply to turn the relay on. the red ones are the input and output, the red that comes from the battery + is the input and is usually fused. This of course could be different if your one has been altered. Regards Rascalvan
