Oh dear my efforts at reducing my vehicles isn't going well at all i thought having got rid of the camper things were looking on the up. but i was driving through town yesterday and saw a Citroen Romahome looking old, tatty and unloved Just couldn't leave it like that i'm afraid!!!!! A chat with the owner, and £1200 later he parted with it and it was mine It is tatty and does have some rust on just about every panel but it drives beautifully and after the Bambi just feels so comfortable. It also has 12months MOT which is encouraging. So it all starts all over again i'm afraid, i'll keep it over the Summer and tidy up the paintwork then we'll see where we go from there i guess

Oh yes we are back in the saddle again with the Citroen. Picked it up tonight and took it out for a spin just to see what's what and what's not ok with it.
It drives fantastically actually, no faults there at all cruises at 70mph without any hint of a problem the body is plastic so the whole thing is as light as a feather which should help with fuel consumption too.
Obviously its rusty its a D reg so it has seen some action over the years, the last owner lived in it for a year and a half in Afghanistan and has been everywhere in it.
It seems to have a good service history although not all of it in english so i have spent time this evening trying to decode the various languages on the invoices to see what has been done to it over the years, looks like it has had a fortune spent on it but again the different currencies don't mean a lot to me.
Bad points are the brakes. On reading the various forums it seems this is the norm for these vehicles, one forum said brakes came as an optional extra and no one seemed to bother having them fitted. I would certainly agree that that is the case on this one the brakes are diabolical and although everyone says this is common i don't see why it should be. It has discs on the front and drums on the rear so why should they be worse than on any other vehicle?
I'm going to investigate this first and see if anything can be done to improve the braking system because as it is at the moment you just press the brake pedal and you have got time to shower, shave, eat breakfast and wash up before it even thinks about slowing down.
And that is it so far. We are going to take it to Bourton on the Water at the weekend for a day or maybe two away and see how it fares as a camper, and i will try to get some pics up of it in action on here for next week. Fingers crossed then that our first outing is better than the first one we did in the Bambi!!

Yes Chris it's had a rich life i think. We had a great weekend at Bourton but forgot to take a camera. We are going to take it to the Forest of Dean next weekend so will get some pics up of it then. Unfortunately though i have managed to break it at the moment. I took a speed hump a little to faaaaaaasst. Don't know what the damage is yet, have had a quick look underneath today but it's nothing obvious. Will try to get down the garage during the week and have a proper look at it, but time restraints are making it impossible at the moment.
